MoWest takes series finale over Jets

WICHTA- Jets Baseball ended the series against MoWest on Sunday afternoon. MWSU snagged game three with a final score of 20-3, through seven innings. 

How it Happened:
- The Griffons were first to the scoreboard after holding the Jets off in the first inning. In the bottom of the first, the Griffons scored five to take an early 5-0 lead. The Jets remained hit less in the top of the second, while the Griffons posted five more runs in the bottom half of the inning to take their lead out to 10-0. The Jets recorded their first hits of the game in the top of the third. Kaynan Kaku and Jordan Bundy both singled in the inning, but the Jets could not push any runs across the plate. The Jets defense, behind Gavin Wakefield on the mound, would face three batters in the bottom of the third and retire them all.
- MoWest held the Jets hit less in the fourth, and would be able to tack on seven runs in the bottom of the fourth. After four, the Griffons held the 17-0 lead. The Jets recorded one hit in the top of the fifth, a single from Kaku, but the Griffons continued to hold the Jets off the scoreboard. Two more runs would be scored by MWSU in the bottom half of the fifth to extend their lead to 19-0. Colton Holland singled to become the Jets first base runner of the sixth inning, but the Jets were held off by the MoWest defense. One run was scored by MWSU in the bottom of the sixth to take the 20-0 lead. 
- In the top of the seventh, Michael Carger was the first base runner for Newman after he singled to the shortstop. Kaku would earn a walk later in the inning, putting runners at first and second. Jordan Bundy would be able to reach on a Griffons error which allowed Carger to score the Jets first run of the game. Jackson Witt would then come up to the plate and connect with a double to score Kaku and Bundy, taking the score to 20-3. Though the Jets scored three in the bottom of the seventh, it was not enough. The Griffons would take the game, 20-3 through seven innings. 

Player Notes:
- Kaku led the Jets with two hits on two at bats. 
- Witt tallied two RBIs on the day with a double. 

Newman heads back out on the road to face MSSU for a Tuesday midweek, followed by a weekend series at ESU.
