Bronchos takes series finale over Jets

EDMOND, Okla.- The Jets finished up the weekend series at Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon. The Bronchos secured the series on Friday. Today, the Bronchos took the contest 27-3. 

How it Happened:
- UCO took the early 1-0 in the top of the first. The Jets were quick to respond in the bottom of the first with a solo home run from Nicolas Ely to tie it at 1-1. A big offensive second inning from the Bronchos allowed UCO to retake the lead, 8-1. The Jets would be shutout in the bottom of the second, keeping the seven run deficit on the board. Another strong inning offensively for the Bronchos extended their lead out to 13-1. The Jets remained unable to close the deficit in the bottom of the third. Through three, Newman trailed by 12 runs. 
- The Jets were able to score two runs off two hits in the bottom of the fourth, with solo home runs from Kaynan Kaku and Peyton Mitchell. This made the deficit ten runs heading into the fifth inning. UCO's bats continued to roll. In the fifth the Bronchos scored seven runs off four hits to extend their lead out to 20-3. Four runs scored off of three hits would push the Broncho lead to 24-3 after the top of the sixth inning. The Bronchos continued their offensive dominance. Hitting three more runs in the top of the seventh taking the 27-3 lead. Newman would be unable to cut into the deficit in the bottom of the seventh, resulting in a 27-3 loss through seven innings. 

Player Notes:
- Ely, Kaku and Mitchell all added solo home runs in the game, all tallying one RBI apiece. 
- Mitchell led Newman going 2-3 from the plate. 

Jets Baseball will stay out on the road to face Missouri Southern in their midweek series finale on Tuesday, April 14 at 3 PM.
