WICHITA, Kan.- The Jets fell to Northwest Missouri State with a final score of 6-2 on Saturday at Equity Bank Park. Despite home runs from Newman's lineup, the Bearcats secured the win by capitalizing on a three-run fifth inning.
Northwest Missouri took an early lead in the second inning when John Connors tripled to center field, bringing home Sam Wornson. Michael Good followed with a groundout that allowed Connors to score, giving the Bearcats a 2-0 advantage in the second inning. In the third inning, Frank Gall advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jordi Ventura, extending NW Missouri's lead to 3-0 through three innings.
The Bearcats added three more runs in the fifth inning. Wilmer Jimenez's RBI single was followed by a two-run homer from Sam Wornson, increasing their lead to 6-0. The Jets responded in the sixth inning when
Collin Morris homered to left field, cutting the deficit to 6-1 after six innings.
Justin Birch added another run for Newman with a solo home run to left field in the seventh inning, making it 6-2 through seven innings.
Despite Newman's efforts, NW maintained its lead and secured a 6-2 victory.
