WICHITA, Kan.- Jets Baseball fell to No. 9 Pittsburg State 18-0 on Tuesday. Pittsburg State capitalized on 11 walks and 13 hits, including two home runs, to secure the victory.
Pittsburg State opened the first inning with a commanding start, scoring six runs. Jadyn McNealy, hit by a pitch, and Eric Bacon, who walked, initiated the momentum with successful steals. Grant Nottlemann drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing in the first run. Cooper Wesslund followed with a single and advanced on an error, clearing the bases with three RBIs. Cooper Harris capped the inning with a two-run homer, giving Pitt State a 6-0 lead. In the second inning, Pitt State extended its lead with five more runs. Eric Bacon scored on an RBI double by Isaac Webb. A passed ball and sacrifice flies from Kam Koester and Cooper Harris contributed to the scoring, resulting in an 11-0 advantage. The scoring continued in the third when PSU added another run. Isaac Webb singled, and Seth Dandridge's single to right field brought Bacon home, making it 12-0.
After two scoreless innings, Pitt State resumed scoring in the sixth. Cooper Harris doubled and later scored on a Jaron Cotton double. A wild pitch and a two-run homer by Cooper Wesslund padded the Gorillas' lead to 18-0. Newman's offense was unable to respond throughout the game, concluding with Pitt State securing an 18-0 victory.
