EDMOND, Okla.- The Jets traveled to Edmond, Oklahoma to face Central Oklahoma in a weekend series. The Jets fell to the Bronchos, 5-2, in game one of the series on Thursday, April 9th.
How it Happened:
-
Carter Andreozzi gave the Jets their first hit with a single up the middle in the first inning.
Nicolas Ely added a single to left field in the third, but continued to be held by the Bronchos.Â
-After a scoreless first, second, and third inning the Bronchos got on the board in the fourth inning with a two-run home-run to left field as well as a solo home run to give Central Oklahoma a 3-0 lead.
Kaynan Kaku added a single to right field in the fourth, but the Bronchos defense would continue to leave the Jets scoreless.
-Newman answered in the fifth as
Justin Birch hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 3-1. However, Central Oklahoma answered again in the sixth inning with another solo home run to extend the Broncho lead to 4-1.
-UCO and NU would both be held scoreless in the seventh and eighth inning. In the 9th inning, Central Oklahoma added another run to make it 5-1. Newman gained some energy when
Carter Andreozzi doubled down the right-field line, scoring
Justin Birch, who reached on a double to right center, to bring the score to 5-2. The late push from Newman was not enough to overcome the deficit. The Bronchos would take game one of the series, 5-2.
