Jets fall 11-6 in game two at FHSU

HAYS, Kan.- Newman fell to Fort Hays State 11–6 on Friday night at Larks Park. Newman tallied 10 hits and four doubles, while Fort Hays State  secured the win with 11 hits and a decisive seven-run first inning.

Newman faced a challenging start against the Tigers, allowing seven runs in the first inning. Gehrig Heckathorn's walk and Josh McWilliams' single set the stage for Mac Bowie's RBI double and Erick Ordonez's two-RBI single. A throwing error added to the scoring, and Fort Hays St. led 7-0 after one inning. In the third inning, the Jets mounted a response with four runs. Lawrence Lubchuk Jr walked and Kaynan Kaku was hit by a pitch, setting up Peyton Mitchell's RBI double. Collin Morris followed with an RBI single, and Thomas Munn added an RBI double. Morris scored on a wild pitch, narrowing the gap to 7-4.

Newman added another run in the fifth. Morris doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch, scoring on a single by Munn. However, the Tigers responded with two runs, extending their lead to 9-5. In the eighth inning, FHSU increased its lead with two more runs. Mac Bowie's RBI double and a wild pitch that allowed him to score made it 11-5.

Newman attempted a late rally in the ninth. Anthony Cannavino walked, advanced on wild pitches, and scored on a single by Louis Coca. The comeback effort closed the final score to 11-6, favoring the Tigers.

- Munn tallied two hits, two RBIs, with one double.
