How it happened:
The Jets opened the first set by taking the first five points, with
Sky Miller serving an ace and
Isabella Lamb and

Charissa Ninan ace, but the Bearcats worked back to 18-18 behind their serving pressure, including aces by Abby Bulthuis and Ellery Luhring. The teams traded points deep into extra play, with Kelley, Lamb,
Hannah Tymitz and Miller all providing Newman kills after the score reached 22-22. After Northwest Missouri State went ahead 30-29, Miller answered with a kill and an ace, and the Jets closed the set 33-31 on a Bearcats service error and a Lamb-Follmer block.
After the second set was tied 2-2, the Bearcats scored five straight points, including a Sophia Gartner kill, a Gabrielle Gartner/Natalie Herrington block, and a Mya Karrick ace, to move in front 7-2. The Jets cut into the gap with a Northwest Missouri State error and consecutive Tymitz kills to make it 12-7, but the Bearcats answered often enough through Maddie Roenfeld, Jada Smith and Gartner to push the margin back to 19-10. Newman made a late push with a Ninan ace, a
Reese Johnson ace and two
Kierny Follmer kills, getting as close as 23-18 and 24-19 before a Gartner kill closed the set for Northwest Missouri State, 25-19.
The Jets started the third set with four straight points, including an
Ashlyn Warburton kill from
Madalyn Hoot and two blocks involving Warburton and Kelley, before the Bearcats worked back to tie it at 7-7 and moved in front 8-7.
Josie Weers tied the set at 8-8, and after Northwest Missouri State went ahead 11-8, Miller's kill and consecutive Follmer service aces pulled NU even at 11-11. The Bearcats pushed back ahead 16-12, and although Miller added a service ace to help Newman get within 16-14, the home side stayed in front and scored five of the final six points to take the set 25-18.
