Wichita, KS - Newman dropped a 3-1 decision to Northwest Missouri State on Friday at Wilkins Field.
The Bearcats struck early, taking a 1-0 lead just 41 seconds into the match on a goal by Jenna Lloyd before adding a second goal in the 35th minute to carry a 2-0 advantage into halftime.
Newman generated several chances in the opening half, including shots from Iveta Stefancinova, Emma Kolbe and Allison Hernandez, but was unable to break through against Northwest goalkeeper Taryn Lewis.
Northwest extended its lead to 3-0 less than three minutes into the second half when Julia Coacher found the net. The Jets responded in the 59th minute as Lexi Bauer scored her first goal of the season, finishing off an assist from Emma Kolbe to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The Jets continued to create opportunities throughout the second half and finished with 10 shots, well above their season average, but could not get any closer as Northwest held on for the win.
