ARLINGTON, Texas - The Newman wrestling team picked up its first dual wins of the season last weekend at the Lone Star Duals in Arlington, Texas. After falling to two teams tied for third in the national polls (Nebraska-Kearney and Central Oklahoma), the Jets picked up wins over NCAA Div. II foe New Mexico Highlands, and NCWA foes Texas-Arlington and Texas-A&M.

Tyler Hasenbank led the way for the Jets in the weekend tournament, posting a 4-1 record in the Jets' five matches. Hasenbank dropped his first match in a 13-4 major decision to UNK's Derek Ross, but rebounded for an 11-2 major decision of his own over UCO's Kenny Meredith, and needed just 50 seconds to pin Adam Pacheco from New Mexico Highlands.

Blake Fisher provided highlights of his own in the weekend's action. The junior transfer was leading No. 4 Joey Morrison 8-3 when Morrison made some late moves to earn a seventh-minute pin. Fisher rebounded with a vengence though, earning a 12-7 win over Central Oklahoma's Trison Graham, who entered action ranked No. 5 in the 133 lb. weight class, and finished the tournament with a 1-1 record.

The Jets are back in action Tuesday night, when they host nationally-ranked Fort Hays State in a 7 p.m. dual inside Newman's Fugate Gymnasium.
