Jets to Face Kansas State Tuesday

WICHITA - The Newman baseball team will travel to Manhattan to take on the Kansas State Wildcats on Tuesday, the athletic department announced Monday. The Jets will take on the Wildcats in a nine-inning game starting at 6:30 p.m. at KSU's Tointon Family Stadium.

Newman will face Kansas State ace Kyle Hunter, who has a 3-0 record and a 1.65 ERA in 27 innings of work. The Jets will send Steven Trevino to the mound against the Wildcats. Trevino is 3-2 this season with a 7.75 ERA in 40.2 innings. The Wildcats are 15-3 this year, and were ranked No. 25 in last week's NCAA Div. I baseball poll.

"We would like to thank coach Brad Hill and the Kansas State baseball program for giving us this opportunity," Trilli said. "This game will be a great opportunity for our team to take the field against some of the best competition in the area, and I am thrilled that we were able to put this together on short notice.

This will be the first NCAA Div. I opponent the Jets have faced since earning full NCAA Div. II membership two years ago. It will mark the fifth time the Jets have met the Wildcats, and the first since April 5, 2006, when K-State won a 16-3 contest. Kansas State leads the four-game all-time series 4-0.

For tickets, contact the Kansas State Athletic Ticket Office at (785) 532-7606, or online at www.kstatesports.com. Tickets start at $7.
