Missouri-St. Louis (0-0, 0-0 GLVC)
Thursday, Sept. 2 // 4 p.m. // Wilkins Field // Wichita, Kan.
Newman will look to open its season on a high note by winning its season opener for the first time since 1996. That year, the Jets went on to post a 19-3-3 record that included a trip to the NAIA National Championship tournament. Newman returns five starters from a 2009 squad that posted a disappointing 3-12-3 record, but knocked off eighth-ranked Rockhurst, and played nationally-ranked Truman State to a 0-0 tie. UMSL, meanwhile, returns four starters from a 2009 Triton team that posted a 9-7-2 record, and finished eigth in the always-tough Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Tabor (0-0, 0-0 KCAC)
Monday, Sept. 6 // 7 p.m. // Wilkins Field // Wichita, Kan.
The Jets continue the first of two home games to start the season when they host NAIA foe Tabor in a 7 p.m. contest. Tabor finished 8-9-1 last season, scoring 36 goals on 117 shots on goal along the way. Opponents from the NAIA have been a thorn in Newman's side since the Jets made the transition to NCAA Div. II in 2007. In that time, the Jets are 0-3-1 against NAIA opponents. Newman's last win over an NAIA program came in the 16th game of the 2006 season, when the Jets picked up a 2-1 win over Central Christian.
