ODESSA, Texas - Jordan Saybounkham's ninth-minute goal gave the Newman men's soccer team an early lead, but Texas-Permian Basin rallied for a 2-1 overtime win Friday night in Odessa, Texas. Saybounkham's first-half goal was his first goal of the season.
- Jordan Saybounkham gave the Jets an early lead after scoring his first goal of the season off a Nathan Modesto ball in the ninth minute. Saybounkham one-timed a deflection just inside the mouth of the goal to give Newman the 1-0 lead with his first goal of the season.
- Texas-Permian Basin responded in the 59th minute when Logan Sharp netted a shot for the Falcons on a one-on-one oportunity inside the box.
- The score remained tied 1-1 until the 117th minute when UTPB's Dylan Slaughter scored the game winning goal with a bicycle kick shot from the middle of the box off a ball from Tyler Gibson.
- Newman goalkeeper Robin Allard made 12 saves in the contest and fell to 1-3-1 on the season.
- The Jets were out-shot in the match 29-10. Newman put six shots on goal, while 14 of UTPB's 29 shots were on-target.
