Brandon Carlos' goal in the fourth minute of double overtime led the Newman men's soccer team to a 3-2 win over Texas-Permian Basin Friday night at Wilkins Field. The win gives the Jets their first three-game winning streak since 2008.

Steven Hamersky in the 16th minute with a low line-drive shot to the left corner of the net.
- Newman responded with just under two minutes left in the first half.
Matheus Daniel blasted a shot from the top of the box and found the top left corner to even the match 1-1.
- The contest remained tied until the Falcons took advantage of a counter attack opportunity. Out-numbering the Newman defense four against two, Tyler Gibson added his second goal with a low shot to the left corner to put UTPB ahead, 2-1.
- The Jets responded in the 86th minute when
Nicos Esquivel took a pass from
Nathan Modesto and beat the Falcon keeper from close range with a blast to the right corner, tying the match 2-2.

Brandon Carlos scored the game winner for Newman in the 104th minute after receiving a pass from
Daniel and ripping it past the opposing keeper, ending the match 3-2 in favor of the Jets.

Steven Hamersky made nine saves in the match and improved to 3-0 on the season while extending the Jets' win-streak to three games for the first time since the 2008 season.

Nathan Modesto led the Jets' offense with six shots, including two near misses. Ten different Newman players fired shots in the match.

With the win the Jets improve to 6-9-1 on the season and 3-2-1 in Heartland Conference play. They will travel to Laredo, Texas to take on Texas A&M International Friday, November 4th, at 7 p.m..
