As a team Newman posted 14 escapes for the dual. UCO used the forfeits in the 133 and 165 lb. matches, and pins in the 125, 149, and 157 lb. matches to win the dual 42-3.

#20 Baker 34, Newman 12
On Sunday in Fugate Gymnasium, Newman started and ended the dual against Baker on positive notes. Jarod Stephenson began the dual pinning Allen Gassman in the 125 lb. division to earn Newman six points. The Jets did not win another match until the 184 lb. match where Tyler Hasenbank won by a decision over Joe Pace, 8-3. The heavyweight was the last match of the dual. Lorenzo Serna rallied in the last period to earn the decision over Levi Calhoun, 3-2. BU's forfeit win in the 133 lb. class, and pins in the 149 and 157 lb. matches gave the Tigers an advantage in the 34-12 dual.

The 1-2 outing last weekend pushes Newman's record to 3-11 in dual matches this year. The Jets will return to action Feb. 27 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the NCAA Super Regional 3 tournament.
