Jets Aggressiveness Turns to a 1-0 Victory

WICHITA - Newman men's soccer holds Dallas Baptist to a shutout in Dallas on Saturday afternoon. The Jets outshot the Patriots 12-7, gaining the 1-0 victory.
                   
The first half resulted in a scoreless match between the Patriots and Jets. Newman had seven shots in the first 45 minutes of play. Players Matt McConnell, Nathan Modesto, Robert Butler, Marcio Souza, Jordan Saybounkham, Victor Rojas and Brandon Carlos all took a shot to give the Jets seven shots in the first half.
 
The aggressiveness on offense followed into the second half. Shots by Zac Gramke and Amadou Doumbia followed by a missed penalty kick by Rojas put the Jets closer to a goal. With less than 12 minutes left in the match Gramke earned the only goal of the game, and his first of the season. Sebastien Negro received the assist off the Gramke goal. The Patriots had one more chance to make a goal, but Newman blocked it. At the conclusion of the match the Jets won 1-0.

Steven Hamersky earned the shutout with two saves.
 
The Jets improve to a 4-7-1 overall record and 3-3-1 in Heartland Conference action. Newman will host Texas A&M International Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. for YMCA Kid's Night.
