Jets Come off Rattled

WICHITA - Newman University's Jets were stumped by St. Mary's Rattlers this weekend as the Jets Struggled to find the net when St. Mary's didn't.

The Jets came out of the first half with 3 shots to St. Marys' 2, the differing factor of the half being that both of St. Mary's shots found the net.

The first goal for St. Mary's was scored by Anthony Bustos and the second goal was scored just over 1 minute later on 11 minutes as Andrew Carrasco joined the score sheet.

The Jets outshot the Rattlers again in the second half and were for the most part, again unable to find the net. The goal scorer for the Jets came from an unsuspected Brandon Carlos corner. The left side player hit the ball into the box and it took a slight deflection into the Rattlers net.

Back into the game and still outshooting the opposition, the Jets had the majority of shots blocked or save as the team were unable to find any real opening.

The Rattlers appeared to have the opposite problem and were able to carve out another 2 goals as Anthony Bustos claimed his second goal of the match with a chipped shot and Jack Wolf scored from an assist by Andrew Carrasco.

The Jets didn't get the result they would have hoped for but there were parts of the game where the visitors struggled to gain possession of the ball.

The Jets will next host McMurry University at Wilkins field on Oct. 25 at 7:30 PM.

The game will be emphasizing a 'Pink Out' night as Newman University look to raise awareness for Breast Cancer.
