WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman men's soccer team dropped its season opener Friday against Eastern New Mexico. The Jets could not keep up with the Greyhound speed resulting in a 2-1 loss. Jets goalkeeper Robin Allard had four saves.

-Nathan Modesto's penalty kick at the 14:20 mark was good for Newman's only goal. Modesto finished with three shots and one shot on goal.

-Jets goalkeeper Robin Allard received his first loss of the season with four saves and two goals allowed.

-In the 66^th minute, Allard saved an uncontested shot by Abayneh Crosby to hold the Greyhounds from another goal.

-Newman had seven total shots and one corner kick while Eastern New Mexico had 18 shots and five corner kicks.

The Jets will continue home play Sunday, September 2 at 3 p.m. against the Rockhurst Hawks.
