WICHITA - Newman volleyball goes to a 1-5 record after losing in a three set match against McMurry on Saturday at Fugate Gymnasium. Seniors Haley Dotson and Katelyn Schmidtberger led the team with nine kills a piece.

In the first set the Jets produced eight kills off 27 attempts resulting in a .027 attack percentage while the War Hawks had a .139 attack percentage. McMurry posted the first set win with a 25-20 score.

it was another 25-20 score for McMurry in the second set. Newman had one more recorded kill than McMurry, but the nine committed errors held the Jets back.

The Jets performed best in the third set pressuring the War Hawks. McMurry had a four point lead when the Jets came back with eight points to take the first lead, 13-12. The jets could not hold the lead to the end, losing 25-23. Newman had 12 kills with Dotson putting up seven of the 12.

After the 3-0 loss to McMurry the jets go to a 1-5 record. Newman travels to take on Heartland Conference opponent Oklahoma Panhandle State on September 13 at 7 p.m.
