Wrestlers Come Up Short in Four Duals; Hasenbank and Cooksley Go 3-1

KEARNEY, Neb. – The Newman wrestling team battled, but came up short in four duals on Saturday (Jan. 19) at the Midwest Duals. The Jets' lineup was, however, missing three starters in all four duals. The Jets lost 44-3 to Colorado Mesa, 29-15 to San Francisco State, 38-9 to Adams State and 35-13 to Colorado State-Pueblo.
 
Freshman Colton Duhr had a huge weekend for the Jets. The 157-pounder knocked off No. 2-ranked Jon Gappmaier of Colorado Mesa with a 9-2 decision win. Duhr ended up 2-2 on the day.
 
Both Tyler Hasenbank and Steven Cooksley ended their days at 3-1. Their only losses came in the dual loss to Colorado Mesa. After that, the pair won their next three matches. Reece Wright-Conklin went 2-2 on his day at the Midwest Duals.
 
The Jets gear up to host the Kansas Cup next Sunday (Jan. 27) at 9 a.m. inside Fugate Gymnasium
