Box Score WICHITA – The Newman men's soccer upset bid of No. 7 St. Edward's fell short as the Jets lost 1-0 to the Hilltoppers on Monday (Oct. 14) afternoon at Wilkins Field. SEU improved to 8-1-1 (4-0 Heartland Conference), while NU dropped to 0-11-1 (0-4 Heartland Conference).
 
The lone goal of the game came in the 22nd minute on a Hilltoppers' header on a free kick. SEU held the 1-0 advantage for the rest of the contest.
 
In a physical game, SEU totaled 22 fouls, while NU had 15. Shots were close with the Hilltoppers holding a slight 8-6 edge.
 
Luca Anelli fired three shots, including one on goal, and Zac Gramke tallied three shots.
 
Steven Hamersky went the 90 minutes in goal for NU, making two saves and allowing the one goal.
 
The Jets host Lubbock Christian on Saturday (Oct. 19) at 5 p.m. at Wilkins Field.
