Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A goal in the 99th minute of overtime downed the Newman men's soccer team, 4-3, at Oklahoma Christian on Monday (Oct. 28) at the Eagle Soccer Field. The Jets dropped to 1-14-1 and 1-7 in the Heartland Conference.
The Eagles scored the game-winning golden goal in the 99th minute when Ricardo Chinchilla slide in to knock in a cross for the 4-3 OC final score.
After an early OC goal,
Luca Anelli tied the game at 1-1 with a penalty kick goal in the 28th minute.
The Eagles scored two quick goal right before halftime in the 35th and 38th minutes to take a 3-1 advantage into the break.
The Jets battled back in the second half scoring the only two goals in the second 45 minutes of play. Anelli added his second goal and fourth goal in the last two games in the 67th minute to pull the Jets to within one at 3-2. Senior
Jordan Saybounkham knotted the score with 5 minutes left in regulation with a goal in the 85th minute.
Robin Allard went the full game in goal for NU, making eight saves and allowing the four goals.
OC totaled 25 shots to 17 for the Jets. The Eagles held a 10-3 corner kick advantage as well.
The Jets end their season on Nov. 2 at Rogers State. Start time is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Claremore, Okla.
