Box Score WICHITA – A late goal by Metro State downed the Newman men's soccer team, 1-0, on Sunday (Sept. 15) at Wilkins Field. The Jets fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss.
 
The Roadrunners scored in the 79th minute on a corner kick. Pierce Galan sent in the corner, and Andy Lopez knocked in a header for the 1-0 score.
 
Despite allowing the one goal, Steven Hamersky was great in goal, making nine saves, including some spectacular plays. On a penalty kick in the 33rd minute, Hamersky came up big with a save on the PK and then another save on the rebound to keep the game scoreless.
 
The Jets struggled to generate any offense, getting off six shots, including only two shots in the second half. Three of NU's shots were on goal.
