Jets and Eagles End in 1-1 Tie

Box Score WICHITA – After 110 minutes, the Newman men's soccer team ended its game in a 1-1 tie with visiting Oklahoma Christian on Friday night (Sept. 20) at Wilkins Field. The Jets are now 0-3-1 on the season, and the Eagles are 2-1-1.
 
The Jets got on the scoreboard right before halftime as freshman Adam Sawyer scored, his second goal of the season, after Jordan Saybounkham sent in a ball from the left wing. The goal in the 41st minute gave NU a 1-0 advantage.
 
Despite outshooting the Eagles 13-6 in the second half, NU couldn't extend its lead. OC scored the equalizer in the 75th minute on a shot right in front. The Jets also had six second half corner kicks to zero from OC.

In a physical game, the Jets were called for 25 fouls, and the Eagles had 14.
 
Steven Hamersky went the full 110 minutes in goal for NU, allowing the one goal and making two saves.
 
The Jets travel to Fort Hays State on Sunday (Sept. 22) for a 6 p.m. game at the FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays, Kan.
