Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – The Newman baseball team split its season-opening doubleheader against East Central on Saturday (Feb. 8) at QuikTrip Park. The Jets won 1-0 and lost 3-1 in the two games.
 
Senior left-handed pitcher Jacob Furr showed why he was an All-Heartland Conference selection a season ago as he pitched a complete game three-hitter in the 1-0 victory against ECU. He totaled 10 strikeouts with only one walk in seven complete innings of work.
 
The Jets continue the series tomorrow (Feb. 9) with another doubleheader. The twinbill starts at 3 p.m. inside Quiktrip Park.
