WICHITA – The Newman men's soccer team takes on Lubbock Christian today (Oct. 15) at 5 p.m. at Wilkins Field. Live stats are available.
The Jets are currently 6-5-1 and 1-1 in the Heartland Conference. NU started conference play with a 1-0 win over Dallas Baptist last Thursday (Oct. 8) at Wilkins Field. The Jets won on an own goal after a header from a Patriot defender. NU then played No. 6 St. Edward's and outplayed the Hilltoppers for the first half. In the second half, a foul at the top of the box allowed SEU to score on a free kick and get a 2-0 win over the Jets. The loss snapped a five-match winning streak for NU.
Dominic Nwagwu leads the Jets in goals with five, including two game-winning scores.
Pedro Augusto and
Luca Anelli each add four goals and two assists.

Calum Dillon has started all 12 games in goal. He has a 1.47 goals against average with 48 saves. He's 6-5-1 on the season with one shutout.
The Chaps are 4-5-2 on the season and 1-3 in the Heartland Conference. They are currently on a two-game losing streak. LCU lost to Rogers State, 4-1, and Oklahoma Christian, 1-0, in their two most recent contests. The Chaps started conference play with a 2-1 loss to St. Mary's, but got their only conference win by a 2-1 score against Texas A&M International two days later. During the stretch, LCU has a 2-2 tie to No. 2 Midwestern State.
LCU's Mbongeni Ndlovu has a team-best five goals. Tommy Fogarty-Cameron leads the team in points with 11 on four goals and three assists. Mickey Brunton has a team-high four assists. Tristen Putnam has started 10 of the 11 contests this season in goal. He has a 2.03 goals against average with a 58.8 save percentage. He is 3-5-2 on the season.
After today's contest, the Jets have Senior Day on Saturday (Oct. 17) against Texas-Permian Basin. The contest starts at 12 p.m. with the seniors to be honored between the two games. Live stats and video will be available.
