WICHITA – The Newman wrestling team ended its dual season with a 36-17 loss to Central Missouri on Wednesday (Feb. 11) at Fugate Gymnasium. The Jets finish the dual season with a 2-10 record and went 0-5 in the MIAA.
 
Dustin Reed and Tyler Mies each got forfeit wins in the 125 and 149 lb. classes, respectively. UCM also picked up two wins via forfeit at 133 and 141 lbs. for a 12-12 tie after four matches.
 
Forlanda Parker got an early takedown in the 157 lb. class, but UCM's Evan Young got the victory via a pin at 2:21 for an 18-12 score.
 
The Mules won consecutive matches by decisions to build a 24-12 advantage. Noels Torres lost by a 6-1 decision to Josh Thomson in the 165 lb. class, and Michael Kubik went down by a 11-5 score in the 174 lb. class.
 
Dalton Weidl was victorious in the 184 lb. class, getting a late pin at 6:04 over Mike Boyd. The score was 24-18 with two matches left.
 
In the 197 lb. class, Bobby Bowman fell by pin at 3:09 to Robert Schneider. Lex Plummer also lost by a pin at 2:37 to De'Quence Goodman in the heavyweight class. With the two late falls, UCM pulled out to a 36-17 victory. The Jets lost one team point due to misconduct after the 197 lb. match.
 
NU goes to the MIAA Conference Tournament this Sunday (Feb. 15) in Warrenburg, Mo. The event starts at 10 a.m.
