WICHITA, Kan. — Looking to keep its recent hot streak in league play going, the Newman baseball team travels to Oklahoma Christian for a three-game Heartland Conference series Friday and Saturday.

That was followed up with a 13-5 nonconference victory over Northwestern Oklahoma Tuesday that led to an overall hot streak of 6-1 over their last seven games.

NOTES
-The Jet offense has been finding its stride over the last nine games. Held to one run in one of those games, Newman averaged 6.7 runs per game over the span, and scored at least five runs in seven of those nine games.
-While still early, both the Jets and the Eagles are part of a tightly grouped bunch at the top of the conference standings after three weekends of play. Newman and OC are tied with Lubbock Christian at 6-3 in league games, which puts all three of them a game back of St. Edward's and Arkansas-Fort Smith, which are tied for the lead at 7-2 with 18 games still to play.
-The Eagles put up just about the same number of runs as the Jets, but do it in a vastly different way, as the team is 25th in the country with a .510 slugging percentage. That's helped along by their 33 home runs and 66 doubles, which are both top-27 in the nation.
