WICHITA, Kan. — After seeing its nine-game win streak snapped in a midweek game, the Newman baseball team will look to keep its run of victories in weekend games alive as it hosts Augustana in a four-game series Saturday and Sunday. A 1:30 p.m. doubleheader kicks things off Saturday before the two sides play two more at noon Sunday.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (10-3) ripped off nine straight wins after a 1-2 start to their season, sweeping Wayne State and Southwest Minnesota State over the past two weekends. While all four games against Wayne State were close, Newman's five latest wins have come by an average of 10 runs. A 3-1 loss to Emporia State Tuesday was their first since dropping two to Southwestern Oklahoma State in the season's first series.

NOTES
-This will be the first-ever meeting between the Jets and the Vikings.
-Although a small sample size, Augustana is proving its might with the bats so far this season, as the Vikings are ninth in the country in scoring, helped along by a team batting average (.330) that is 34th in the nation and an on-base percentage (.458) that is 12th.
-The Jets aren't too shabby themselves with the bats, as their team average (.332) is 31st in Division II and their 7.8 runs per game 55th in the country and second in the Heartland Conference. They have been able to toss out a bevy of arms as well, as they're fifth in the nation with three shutouts and 37th with a 3.13 team ERA.
-While Bugner has started his season on pace to repeat his postseason awards from his sophomore season, he's not the only one swinging a good bat, as five Jets are batting at least .333 and six have an on-base percentage of at least .400.
