WICHITA, Kan. – Due to potential rain on Saturday, the Newman baseball team has moved up it's three-game Heartland Conference series against Arkansas-Fort Smith to Thursday and Friday instead of Friday and Saturday. The doubleheader of the series will be held on Thursday starting at 3 p.m. at McCarthy Field and a single game to finish up the series will be at 1 p.m. Friday.
The Jets will be playing three consecutive days, starting today with a single nonconference game at William Jewell. This is another crucial Heartland Conference series for the Jets and Lions. Newman is currently tied for fifth in the standings and UAFS is one game back from NU, currently in sixth place. If the Jets want to stay in the race for the Heartland Conference postseason, they'll need to come out firing on all cylinders over the next two days.
UAFS has stumbled a bit after starting 6-0 in conference play, by losing three-straight series to Lubbock Christian and getting swept by Rogers State and St. Edward's.
Live stats and video will be available at newmanjets.com for both Thursday and Friday.
