WICHITA, Kan. – Trying to keep its winning ways in league play going, the Newman baseball team hosts St. Mary's for a three-game Heartland Conference series Friday and Saturday at McCarthy Field.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (22-10, 8-4 Heartland) won two out of three, outscoring Oklahoma Christian 23-11 last weekend, pushing them into a three-way tie for first place in the Heartland Conference standings. On Wednesday, Newman held a midweek nonconference game against William Jewell and won 12-6, making them 9-2 over their last 11 games.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Rattlers (20-14, 6-6 Heartland) have won back-to-back Heartland Conference series, over the past two weekends. They have taken two out of three games in each series, playing Oklahoma Panhandle State two weekends ago and Texas-Permian Basin this past weekend. On Wednesday, St. Mary's split the four-game season series against Tarleton State, winning 6-3 over the Texans.
