WICHITA, Kan. — Continuing its toughest stretch of the season, the Newman men's soccer team wraps up its midseason home stand by hosting Dallas Baptist and No. 3 St. Edward's in Heartland Conference action at Wilkins Field Thursday and Saturday.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (5-2-1, 3-0-1, 10 pts Heartland) stretched their current unbeaten streak to six games with an impressive weekend at home. They started with a 2-1 victory over Oklahoma Christian last Thursday, and fought a tough team and tougher weather for a 1-0 defeat of nationally-ranked Midwestern State Sunday.

That followed two straight conference losses to Texas-Permian Basin and Texas A&M International.

-Newman and St. Edward's have the two highest point totals four games into the league season. The Jets moved into sole possession of first palce in the North Division of the Heartland's restructured standings thanks to Sunday's win over No. 25 Midwestern State.
-Blake Andrews has put up a clean sheet in goal each of his last two times out. The graduate student is second in the league and 24th in the country with a 0.69 goals-against average, helping Newman to a 0.72 GAA as a team, the 22nd-best mark in Division II.
-The Hilltoppers slid up to No. 3 in the nation with their wins last week, and are one of just eight teams in the nation still sporting a perfect record as the regular season nears its midway point.
