WICHITA, Kan. – After getting their first taste of conference play this past weekend, the Newman volleyball team heads back home to host its first-two conference matches of the season against St. Edward's Thursday and Dallas Baptist Saturday.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (12-5, 1-1 Heartland) had a sweeping 3-0 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State to open conference play last Thursday. But Newman didn't fair as easy against Lubbock Christian last Saturday afternoon though, falling 3-1 to the Lady Chaps to wrap-up its first weekend of conference play.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
The Hilltoppers (4-8, 2-0 Heartland) played their first-two conference matches two weeks ago on Sept. 15 against St. Mary's and Sept. 17 against Texas A&M International. St. Edward's beat St. Mary's in a closely contested 3-2 match but swept Texas A&M International 3-0 to open up conference play. The most recent match for the Hilltoppers came against Texas A&M-Commerce on Sept. 24, which they lost 3-1.

The Patriots (3-11, 1-1 Heartland) opened up their conference season two weeks ago as well playing on Sept. 15 against Texas A&M International and Sept. 17 against St. Mary's. Dallas Baptist swept Texas A&M International 3-0 but lost a contested 3-2 match to St. Mary's to open up conference play. The most recent matches for the Patriots came on Sept. 24 against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Sept. 27 against Texas Woman's. Dallas Baptist got swept by Texas A&M-Kingsville and lost 3-2 to Texas Woman's.
