WICHITA, Kan. — Newman lost to Central Missouri 3-0 on Saturday at Fugate Gymnasium. The Jets extended the second set to 31-33, with set scores of 20-25, 31-33, and 20-25.

Central Missouri built an early 5-1 lead before NU worked back within 8-7 behind a Kierny Follmer kill and two Central Missouri errors. Sky Miller served consecutive aces to put the Jets ahead 11-10, and the set stayed tight as Priscilla Raschen added multiple kills and Isabella Lamb and Follmer combined on a block during a stretch that reached 17-17. Central Missouri moved ahead 19-17 on an ace by Isabella Holcomb, and later kills by Grace Wagers helped push the margin to 23-19. Raschen kept NU alive with a kill, but Wagers answered for set point and Ashlynn Jaccard closed the set for Central Missouri, 25-20.

Central Missouri built a 6-1 lead, but the Jets pulled even at 8-8 with a Follmer kill, a Reese Johnson ace, and a Hannah Tymitz kill among the points. Central Missouri later pushed ahead 14-10 before Miller put NU back on serve with a kill, then served four straight points including an ace and a block by Raschen and Avery Kelley to give the Jets a 15-14 lead. After Central Missouri edged back in front 18-17, Raschen's kill tied it, the Jets added points on a bad set and a Tymitz-Follmer block, and Miller's kill plus a Follmer ace moved NU ahead 22-19. Central Missouri tied it at 22-22 and, after the Jets fought off set point at 24-23 and later moved ahead 30-29 on Kelley's kill, the visitors scored four of the final five points and closed the set 33-31 on kills by Bria Dawson and Maya Fergerson.

Miller put NU on the board first with a kill from Madalyn Hoot, but Central Missouri moved in front 5-2 and later stretched the set to 9-5 before a block by Miller and Kelley and a Hoot ace brought the Jets within 9-7. Central Missouri pushed the margin back out to 14-8, then reached 19-11 after a kill by Ashlynn Jaccard, a Brenna Kelly ace, and a Kaelyn McDonald block. NU answered with four straight points, including kills by Miller and Ashlyn Warburton, to cut it to 19-15, but Central Missouri extended the lead again to 23-16. Hoot served back-to-back aces during a late Jets push to make it 23-19, and Miller added a kill at 24-20 before Central Missouri closed the set 25-20.
