WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman baseball team continues its homestand with a three-game Heartland Conference series against Oklahoma Christian, starting with a doubleheader Thursday and the series finale Friday at McCarthy Field.
 
SCOUTING NEWMAN
 
The Jets (16-19, 4-8 Heartland) played in a midweek nonconference game yesterday at home against Northwestern Oklahoma State to begin the week and won 12-3. Newman's bats came alive in the win, tallying 10 hits and scoring 12 runs in the contest, while the Jet pitchers kept the Rangers at-bay throughout the contest, only allowing three runs and collecting 12 strikeouts as a unit.

The Eagles (21-17, 8-7 Heartland) fell 8-5 at home Tuesday afternoon to Southern Nazarene in a midweek nonconference game to start off the week, before heading to Wichita. Prior to that game though, Oklahoma Christian swept Oklahoma Panhandle State at home in last weekend's conference series.

-In Tuesday's nonconference game against Northwestern Oklahoma State, Brian Canfield was on fire from the plate, going 4-of-5, including four RBIs, one run and two doubles to pave the way offensively for the Jets.
 
-Newman has won two out of the last three conference series against Oklahoma Christian, dating back to the 2014 season, which includes last year's series win on the road down in Oklahoma City.
