WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman baseball team begins its week with a midweek nonconference game against William Jewell Wednesday afternoon at McCarthy Field, this is the first game in the home-and-home series between the two teams this season.
The Jets (17-21) head into the game tomorrow on fire offensively after putting up a season-high 18 runs against Oklahoma Christian in its weekend Heartland Conference series finale Friday afternoon, which Newman won 18-17. The 18 runs scored was one run short of tying the Division II school record of runs scored in a game.
The Cardinals (16-17) hosted Maryville University for their four-game weekend conference series on Friday and Saturday, with William Jewell taking the final two games to head into tomorrow on a two-game win streak.
