WICHITA, Kan. — Riding a two-match winning streak, the Newman wrestling team jumps back into MIAA action at 7 p.m. Wednesday, heading to No. 13 Central Oklahoma for its second league dual of the season.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (2-2, 0-1 MIAA) got their full lineup together for the first time this season Saturday at the Midwest Duals, going 2-1 with wins over Chadron State and Adams State. Their lone loss was a tight 19-18 match against Colorado Mines.
SCOUTING THE BRONCHOS
Central Oklahoma (10-2, 2-0 MIAA) went 3-0 at the Midwest Duals on Saturday, with San Francisco State, Adams State and Mary not getting close. That followed up a 41-3 slugging of Central Missouri Wednesday that moved the defending MIAA dual meet champs to 2-0 in league play.
IN THE RANKINGS
No. 8 Dalton Weidl (285) and No. 10 Noel Torres (184) haven't lost since debuting in the NWCA individual rankings three weeks ago. They are a combined 7-0 in the new year.
The Bronchos feature five individuals in the individual ranks. No. 7 Josh Lindsey (125) isn't expected to wrestle, but No. 7 Will Steltzen (149), No. 7 Bryan Dutton (157), No. 11 Miguel Barreras (174) and No. 6 Caleb Cotter (285) will provide a boost.
