WICHITA, Kan. — Wrapping up the regular season, the Newman wrestling team will hit the road for the final three dual meets of the season over the next week.
The Jets (3-3, 1-2 MIAA) begin with their annual exhibition against Pratt Community College Thursday at 7 p.m., before heading to No. 12 Nebraska-Kearney for a 3 p.m. matchup Sunday and Fort Hays State to close the regular season at 7 p.m. Feb. 7.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets got to take 10 days off from competition after the most historic three-day stretch in the program's history. Newman picked up its first MIAA dual victory in history Jan. 19 against No. 20 Lindenwood, and followed that up Jan. 21 with the team title at the Kansas Cup.
SCOUTING THE LOPERS
Defending MIAA postseason tournament champion Nebraska-Kearney (19-1, 3-0 MIAA) is looking to get back to the top of the standings in the regular season. The Lopers' only dual loss of the season was to No. 1 St. Cloud State at the National Duals, and they've since ripped through comfortable league wins over Fort Hays, Central Missouri and Lindenwood.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Fort Hays State (4-4, 0-2 MIAA) have had the same break as the Jets, falling to UNK 30-9 on Jan. 19 before finishing second behind Newman at the Kansas Cup. They face UCM and Lindenwood before hosting the Jets.
