WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman women's soccer team rebounded strongly Saturday afternoon at Wilkins field defeating Texas A&M International 1-0. The Jets improve to 11-2-3 on the year and 7-2-3 in the Heartland.
The two teams struggled to find the back of the net early on. The Jets struggles to find the back of the net continued early on in the fifth minute as Dayna Johnson's shot one-on-one against the keeper was blocked. The struggles continued for the Jets in the 20th minute as the Dustdevils keeper denied Grace Linton's shot just inside the 18'.
The two teams headed into the break knotted up 0-0, with the Jets outshooting the Dustdevils 7-2.
Senior forward, Grace Linton put the Jets ahead 1-0 in the 60th minute, heading home her 11th goal of the season on Emma Stewart's cross.
The Jets defense never let up recording their 11th shutout of the season. The Jets outshot the Dustdevils 12-5.
The Jets will host Rogers State Thursday (Oct. 25) at Wilkins Field, kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
