TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Competing with a full team in its second year as a program, the Newman triathlon team finished in 57th in the combined team standings at the 2018 USA Triathlon Collegiate Club Nationals.

After a busy 48 hours in which the Jets saw racers compete in three different events, the men placed 45th out of 102 teams, while the women finished 70th out of 92.

In the open Olympic-distance race Saturday morning, Wyatt Mattas led Newman with a 158th-place finish in the field of 643 men, crossing the finish line in 1:50:05. Abbie Scott paced the Jet women, finishing in 2:12:21 to come in 177th out of 462.
