VERONA, Wisc. - Newman Triathlon made the trip north on Sunday to compete in the Winter Wonderland in Verona, Wisconsin. The Jet Women nearly swept the podium with
Maggie Koenig placing 1st overall,
Marlie Wagner placing third and
Ashley Salgado coming in fourth place.
The race was comprised of a 750 meter swim, 12.45 mile bike and a 5k run. The swim was in a extremely warm indoor pool. The bike was done indoors as well on bikes that were hooked to computer controlled trainers that simulates rolling terrain. As close as you can get without being outside. The run on the other hand was outside. It was a flat double out and back road course. The temp was only 7, which made it extremely difficult.
Despite the changing temperatures, the Jets were able to place 10 between the two teams.
