WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman women's soccer team won a close game Tuesday as they took on Northwestern Oklahoma 2-0. The Jets were looking to keep their momentum from the weekend as they defeated the rangers with the help of their top goal scorers.

The Jets (4-0-0) and Rangers (0-3-1) were both in a defensive battle no team giving up an inch. But in the 83rd minute, the Jets were able to get the game-clinching goal from Vanessa Ortiz who got a corner kick from Kennedy Weaver for the Newman goal.

How It Happened
-Closing in on halftime, the Jets were looking to gain an edge on the Rangers and in the 38th minute, Lexi Clark was able to find Colleen Howland in the box. Howland was able to get the ball past the goalie for the 1-0 lead going into halftime.
- The Jets were looking to put the game away in the second half trying to gain an advantage late, after a shot Kennedy Weaver took the corner for the Jets and was able to find Ortiz in the box for the goal, giving the Jets the game victory.
