WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman Women's soccer team started their conference schedule with a win on the road at Oklahoma Christian Thursday winning 6-0. The Jets have now won five straight games to start the season.

The Jet (5-0-0, 1-0 Heartland) were looking at a 4-0 lead in the middle of the second when Kennedy Weaver was able to catch the ball, past the Eagles (0-4-0, 0-1 Heartland) defense in the box getting it on the goal line and was able to bounce it in the goal for her second goal of the game.

How It Happened
-Early in the first half, the Jets were able to get their offense started early when Grace Linton was able to cross the ball to Colleen Howland for the goal and the 1-0 lead. Vanessa Ortiz was able to get on the board when Dayna Johnson found her at the edge of box for the Newman goal and the 2-0 lead.
-Looking to go into halftime with a sizeable lead the Jets continued their strong offense when Sarra Gutknecht was able to find Karen Tamayo for the goal from the left side after a cross and the goal. In the 41st minute, the Jets increased their lead when Kennedy Weaver was able to get a cross from Tamayo for the goal and the 4-0 lead going into halftime.
-Weaver was able to add two more goals to her total as she was able to get a pass in the box and get it across the goal for the 5-0 lead. Weaver would get the hat trick with a game-clinching goal in the 73rd minute with a shot from the 10 yard out on the left side of the box to the upper portion of the net for the 6-0 victory.
Notes
-Howland and Ortiz have now pushed their goal scoring streaks to five games and their goals tied for first on the team.
-Weaver was able to get the hat trick for the Jets on four shots with three coming on goal.
