WICHITA, KAN – The Newman University women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw Thursday evening against Dallas Baptist University. The Jets move to 7-1-1 on the year and 3-1-1 in Heartland play, beginning their two game homestead.
The Jets controlled the tempo outshooting the Patriots 7-1 in the first half. The Jets found their first of three opportunities in the twenty minute as Vanessa Ortiz's shot on goal was deflected away. Grace Linton gave the Jets another good opportunity in the twenty-sixth minute but DBU's keeper made a great save keeping it scoreless. The Jets and Patriots headed into the break scoreless.
The Jets and Patriots both went back and forth in the second half. Neither team was able to gain much momentum as both defenses held their ground. Neither team would find the back of the net after ninety minutes.
The Jets defense had a couple defensive breakdowns in overtime, but freshman keeper Jackie Lari came through with huge saves keeping it knotted up. Neither team would find the back of the net in extra time finishing in a 0-0 tie.

The Jets will wrap up the brief two game homestead Saturday (Sept. 29th) against conference leading St. Edwards University. Kickoff is schedule for 12pm from Wilkins Field in Wichita.
