WICHITA, Kan. – As of July 1, 2019 Zane Ehling has been promoted from within as Newman University's associate athletic director for external operations, Athletic Director Joanna Pryor announced.

Zane will become a full-time administrator, stepping down as the head baseball coach after spending the past 10 seasons at the helm of the program. A national search for his successor will begin immediately.

"We are grateful for all Zane has done for our baseball program," stated Pryor. "His impact both on and off the field have helped build a foundation for continued growth and increasing success. The relationships he has formed with his student-athletes are a credit to his commitment to his team and a product of his abilities as a coach. With his history at Newman and fundraising experience, we believe will be an excellent addition and will help push our department forward as we gear up for the MIAA."

Zane will oversee all aspects of the Booster Club events/planning, assist in the Athletic Department project development/planning, and the annual planning of game management responsibilities, along with game promotions.

"I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve Newman in a greater role and make an immediate positive impact to our student-athletes." said Ehling. "It has been an honor to lead the baseball program for the past 10 years. I have a tremendous appreciation for all my players both current and former, alumni and anyone else who has made an impact on the NU baseball program."

Ehling coached 30 All-Heartland Conference players, including nine first-team honorees, and 16 conference all-defensive team members. He coached eight all-region players, 12 CoSIDA Academic All-District selections, and five CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. This also includes 2016 Heartland Conference player of the year, Tyler Bugner, who was drafted in the 21st round by the Colorado Rockies in the same year.

Also on July 1, 2019 current Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator Maureen Rohleder assumes the role of Associate Athletic Director/Compliance coordinator vacated by Athletic Director Joanna Pryor. Rohleder will still assume the Senior Woman Administrator role.

Rohleder will enter her 15th year at Newman University. Rohleder has worked tirelessly on improving the SAAC committee and student athlete experience for the past 12 years. She's been instrumental in starting the Gladiator Dash and a huge part to the Jet Open committees.
