Paul Sanagorski Day set for April 24

WICHITA, Kan. – Paul Sanagorski Day has officially been rescheduled for April 24th when Newman Baseball hosts Rogers State for a single nine inning game. A day of recognition for Newman baseball's founding father was set to take place during the 2020 season. That day unfortunately had to be postponed when the baseball season was cancelled.

Paul Sanagorski started the baseball program from scratch at formerly known Kansas Newman College, turning a wheat field into a baseball diamond. When he left Newman 22 years later, he had won 766 games. One of his many highlights included coaching the 1983 Newman baseball team to the NAIA World Series.

Sanagorski also served as an instructor, assistant basketball coach, head women's golf coach, athletics director and intramural director during his time at Newman.

In 2000, Sanagorski left Newman to work in professional baseball, his true calling. He has coached the Kane County Cougars, Jupiter Hammerheads, Carolina Mudcats, Gulf Coast Nationals, Vermont Lake Monsters and Wichita Wingnuts. Sanagorski is currently on the coaching staff at Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita, Kan.

During his time at Newman, Sanagorski led the Jets to four district 10 championships and a 1983 NAIA World Series where the team finished 4th. He coached 28 All-Americans and 7 MLB draft picks.

More updates on this event to come at a later date, including an RSVP link similar to last year.
