WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman Wrestling team will travel to Hays, Kan. to take on Fort Hays State for MIAA Conference Play this Sunday. The Jets will be looking to bounce back after going 1-2 at the Midwest Duals last weekend.
Newman goes 1-2 at the Midwest Duals
Last weekend, the Jets traveled to Kearney, Nebraska to compete in the Midwest Duals. The Jets went 1-2 over the weekend defeating Western Colorado 25-21 but falling to CSU-Pueblo 23-20 and Chadron State 30-12.
Nate Panagakis goes Undefeated at Midwest Duals
#19 wrestler at 184
Nate Panagakis went undefeated over the weekend defeating CSU-Pueblo's Dominic Robles by a 8-4 decision, Cole Gray of Western Colorado by a 7-5 decision, and Joseph Renner of Chadron State by a 5-3 Sudden Victory decision win.
Scouting Fort Hays State
The Tigers are 1-6 on the season and 0-0 in MIAA play. Their latest matchup was on Jan. 23
rd as they competed in the Midwest Duals and went 0-3 losing to CSU-Pueblo 26-21, losing to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M 27-26 due to a tiebreaker, and losing to Western Colorado 25-21. The Tigers are led by #2 wrestler at 125 in Mason Turner and #9 wrestler A.J. Cole at 285.
