WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman Jets continue their homestand this week as they host the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State for MIAA Conference play starting March 26^th at 2:00 PM.
 
Newman takes one of three at home vs Missouri Western over the Weekend
The Jets were able to salvage the weekend with a 9-6 victory over Missouri Western in game three after falling in game one 6-4, and game two 11-7.
 
Newman hitting does well over the weekend.
The Jets had a combined 27 hits over the weekend including 11 hits in game three of the series.  The Jets have 7 players hitting above .300 led by sophomore Hayden VanDePol with a .471 batting average, junior Jon Coufal with a .438 batting average and junior Tyler Push hitting .362.  The Jets as a team have a batting average of .300 through 11 games.
 
Langrell's first start of the year helps the Jets in the 9-6 win
Newman pitching has a team ERA of 9.51 through 11 games.  Connor Langrell got his first start of the year in game three of the series, picking up the win. He went six innings giving up 11 hits and five earned runs to help the Jets salvage the weekend with a 9-6 victory.

Northwest Missouri State
The Bearcats are 6-10 on the season and 5-7 in the MIAA.  Their previous matchup was against Washburn on March 24^th where they would fall to the Ichabods by a final score of 10-7.  The Bearcats have 3 players hitting above .300 led by Ryan Koski at .317.  The Bearcats Pitching staff has a team ERA of 6.90 led by Spencer Hanson with a 2.56 ERA in 31 2/3 innings.
 
Series History
This will be the 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th meetings between these two schools with the series tied 1-1 with the latest matchup coming on 3/23/2011 when Northwest Missouri defeated the Jets 19-6.
