LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Jets traveled to Lawrence, Kansas last weekend for the Jayhawk Classic hosted by Baker University. The first day of qualifying would find the Jets in 2
nd place. The Jets would be set up nicely going into day 2 of qualifying to make the cut to the top 8 teams in the field for match play.
Day 2 was more of the same for the Jets who would be in 2
nd place going into the round of 8 match play portion of the event. The Jets averaged 204.5 during qualifying in the traditional team game format while averaging 202.3 for the 16 baker games of qualifying.
The Jets were led by freshman
Brady Longenecker who averaged 215.2 and finished in 6
th place in the individual standings. Brady would be followed by
Cole Munley in 7
th place who averaged 215 and
Zach Smullen who averaged 208.8.
The Jets bowled well in the semifinal round of 4 shooting 837 for the 4 games of baker and leading their pool. The Jets would stumble in the final round shooting 737 for the 4 games of baker and finish in 3
rd place. The Jets finished behind University of Nebraska and the eventual champion Wichita State University.
Jets will travel this week to Moline, Illinois to compete in the Leatherneck Classic hosted by Western Illinois University.
