Lubbock, TX- Day 2 of tournament play. Newman faced Lubbock Christian and Southwestern Oklahoma State. 

Game 1: 
Slow offense lead to the loss against Lubbock Christian. Lubbock Christian lost in the South Central Regional Final in last years postseason. Lubbock Christian was able to connect early on the offensive end. LCU scored 11 unanswered through the first 2 innings. 

In the 3rd inning, a hit from Laurie Cooke put Lauren Kwak across the plate, scoring their first run. The Jets ended the top of the 3rd with 2 runners left on base. 

LCU scored 6 more in the bottom half of the 3rd and 4th innings. The Jets had opportunities to battle back, but couldn't get the bats rolling. 

Game 2:

Newman turned the bats around for game 2 against the Bulldogs. The Top of the first, a double down the line scored Madi Canez and Laurie Cooke to take the lead 2-0. Anissa Ramos was also scored on fielders choice to take the lead 3-0 going into the bottom half of the inning. 

The Bulldogs answered back with 5 of their own runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead 5-2. 

In the Top of the third inning, Gianna De Luca-Paape hit a huge 3 run home run to take the lead at 6-5. 

Both teams were scoreless through the 4th inning. In the bottom of the 5th the Bulldogs tied it at 6 all. The Bulldogs continued tack on runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, scoring 6 runs to take the lead 11-6.

The top of the 7th was crucial for the Jets. Hits from Canez and Ramos put the Jets in scoring position. An RBI from Gianna Navarro allowed Canez to score cutting the lead to 4. However, the Jets would end the inning with only 1 run, not enough to come back to take the win.

Canez went 3-4 from the plate.
