LAST TIME OUT
Newman hosted William Jewell for a midweek non-conference matchup. The Jets took the first game 5-3. Gianna Navarro went 2-2 from the plate while Gianna De Luca-Paape and Lauren Kwak went 2-3 from the plate. Jackie Gold recorded 5 strikeouts through 7 innings, allowing only 6 hits. In game 2 the Jets came out on top, 8-5. Laurie Cooke and Tori Waggoner went 2-4 from the plate. De Luca-Paape kept up her hot hitting going 2-3 from the plate with 1 RBI. Megan Walz earned another win with 7 innings pitched, striking out 4 batters and allowing 8 hits.
MEET YOUR COACHES
Andrea Gustafson is in her 4th year as the Head Women's Softball Coach. Her 2022 campaign led the Jets to a 18-30 overall record with a 9-17 conference record.
Andrea Vaughan is in her 8th season as head coach of the, 11th season with the Hillcats. Vaughan lead the Hillcats to a National Championship last year.Â
Clay Davis is in his 11th year at Northeastern State. Davis has lead the Riverhawks to 6 playoff appearances and 7 seasons with winning records.Â
THE JETS
Newman is currently 15-27 and 3-9 in conference play. The Jets are on a 4 game win streak and look to expand that streak this week. The Jets are coming off two sweeps. Newman swept Lincoln, 11-4 and 7-0, for their first conference sweep of the year. The Jets hosted Wiliam Jewell on Tuesday and took the sweep against the Cardinals, 5-3 and 8-5.
SCOUTING THE ENEMIES
Rogers State is ranked No.8 in Division II, ranking 3rd in the MIAA behind Central Oklahoma and Missouri Southern. Rogers State is on an 8 game win streak, with their last wins against Northwest Missouri, 8-0 and 7-1.
